Neo Arena initiative
Neo Arena is an extensive digital media research and development initiative, which facilitates commercial development for multichannel distribution and content in northern Finland. Neo Arena provides funds for pilot projects suitable for multichannel distribution. There is a continuous open call for new projects 2008-2009.
Oulu University of Applied Sciences is the main implementer of the initiative. A wide range of businesses and public corporations of the Oulu area are committed to the project. These include the Council of Oulu Region, the city of Oulu, TEKES (Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation), Nokia, Polar and Elisa. The total budget of Neo arena is nearly two million euros. Since the beginning in 2006 over 50 content production, technology and R&D professionals have been involved.
